The United Kingdom is prepared to move forward with utilizing the total value of seized Russia's holdings to support Ukraine's defense operations, Leader Sir Keir Starmer has announced.

In a collective announcement, the officials of the UK, the French Republic, and Germany asserted that this joint measure would heighten pressure on Russia's leader Vladimir Putin and urge the Russian Federation to engage in negotiations.

They added that the move would be implemented in close cooperation with the United States.

United Kingdom sanctions have blocked over £25bn of Russian funds since Moscow initiated its widespread offensive against Ukraine in 2022. Yet, until now, money allocated to the Ukrainian government using Russia's assets had solely been taken from earnings and returns accrued on them.

Sir Keir informed President Volodymyr Zelensky that the United Kingdom, the French Republic, and Germany were aligned in their desire to advance efforts toward employing the complete amount of the immobilized Russia's state holdings to halt hostilities.

He added that more measures over the next period would heighten the tension on Moscow.

This declaration comes after EU leaders convened in the Danish capital recently to debate utilizing immobilized Russia's funds for a €140bn credit to Ukraine.

Recently, President Donald Trump encouraged Group of Seven partners to take or employ seized Russia's assets, according to reports.

The total of immobilized Russia's funds in the European Union is estimated to be almost €211bn.
