Victorian Climate Difficulties

At the same time, approximately 1,000 residents in the southern state also experienced power outages after the metropolitan area recorded its heaviest rainfall in over 500 days.

Rescue organizations responded to nearly 600 calls for help across the state, primarily for structural issues but also for fallen timber and inundation.

  • Werribee region - saw substantial storm damage
  • Hoppers Crossing suburb - numerous emergency calls
  • Wyndham region - nearly 180 emergency requests

At one point on Sunday, over twenty-eight thousand energy customers in Victoria were lacking electricity.

Weather Forecast

Damp conditions were expected to linger along much of the state's eastern regions this week as a low-pressure trough continued to pull in damp air against the shoreline.

Tomorrow was predicted as the heaviest precipitation period, with ongoing storm activity predicted across different parts of both regions.

Safety Concern

Health officials alerted that there was an greater possibility of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the northern rural areas, specifically given the existing atmospheric conditions.

This alert comes after past events where similar conditions led to substantial respiratory problems in the state.
