Iranian forces say they have struck a American military facility in Bahrain, as the country executed operations across the region in response for a significant and continuing assault targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone near the main base of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any damage is not yet known and the United States has not commented.

Airspace Engagements

In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - said they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their airspace.

In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry announced it had successfully engaged several missiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the Middle East.

Iran's Declared Retaliation

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement it was striking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the strikes on the Islamic Republic initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday.

That US-Israeli operation - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on locations linked to the the regime, with US President Donald Trump urging the people of Iran to revolt against the leadership.

Regional Fallout

In the State of Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces said it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates said in a statement that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems responded to the projectiles with great effectiveness and shot down a several projectiles," the statement continued.

It said debris fell on a neighborhood in Abu Dhabi, causing some material damage and fatalities.

The US Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
