Hardline Ex- Lawmaker J.A. Kast Chosen as Chile's Next Leader.
In a decisive final ballot, far-right politician José Antonio Kast has clinched the presidential office in Chile.
A Resounding Victory
With over 99% of polling stations reporting, Kast secured 58.17% of the ballots, defeating leftist former minister Jeannette Jara, who earned 41.83%.
This signifies Kast's third bid for the presidency, having in the past been lost by the sitting president, Gabriel Boric, in the 2021 second round.
Agenda Focused On Law and Order and Immigration
Known for his staunch socially conservative views and praise for the era of former leader Augusto Pinochet, Kast's electoral bid was primarily centered on promises to combat increasing violence and significantly restrict migration.
