The detonation took place on Friday evening at the Nowgam law enforcement facility, where detonation agents confiscated in the Faridabad area in the northern state of Haryana were being stored temporarily.
Local law enforcement head stated that the explosives were scheduled for technical investigation when a "deeply regrettable" accident during handling led to their detonation at approximately 23:20 in the evening.

Law enforcement officials verified that this was an "unintentional explosion" and rather than a terrorist attack. "Alternative theories regarding the cause of this event is unnecessary," highlighted the security director during a press briefing.
The law enforcement facility experienced extensive destruction from the detonation, with adjacent buildings also being affected by the intense detonation.
Consequences and Victims
Multiple vehicles were "covered in blaze and transformed into ashen remains, with fragments distributed across the location," according to authority statements.
"The intensity of the detonation was so extreme that some body parts were retrieved from close-by residences, approximately between 100 and 200 meters from the law enforcement facility," mentioned an official source.
Most of the victims were police officers, along with technical investigation team, two evidence documentation specialists, and a garment worker who was accompanying the group.
